DB Schenker has taken delivery of one of the first fully electric trucks of the type "Volvo FM Low Entry" in Germany. As part of a six-month roadshow, the vehicle will be presented at ten locations across the country. The goal is to give drivers the opportunity to test and evaluate the new vehicle type in practical use.

"At DB Schenker, we place particular emphasis on safety when selecting our truck fleet. In addition to the transition of the fleet to alternative and emission-free drives, the comfort and safety for our drivers are in focus. As part of the roadshow, our drivers now have the opportunity to get to know and evaluate the vehicle properly," said Marc Pühler, Senior Vice President – Head of System Operations Europe at DB Schenker.

With the roadshow and the parallel use of both models in distribution traffic, DB Schenker aims to gain further insights into the requirements and needs of driving personnel in everyday urban logistics. Previously, the company had ordered 55 Volvo FM Electric for emission-free delivery on the last mile.

In comparison to the "Volvo FM Electric," the new model is characterized primarily by safety-related features such as a low entry, improved all-around visibility, and an ergonomically optimized cab. The vehicle concept of the Volvo FM Low Entry thus deliberately places the well-being and safety of the drivers at the forefront.

"The Volvo FM Low Entry was specifically developed for use in urban environments. The drivers gain even better visibility through the low-lying cab and are additionally supported by various assistance systems," says Christoph Fitz, Director of New Vehicle Sales and Managing Director of Volvo Trucks Vertriebs GmbH. "Use in bustling city traffic like that of DB Schenker is perfect for the electric Volvo FM Low Entry."

The Volvo FM Low Entry is the first model from the Swedish manufacturer that is available exclusively with electric drive. It is particularly suitable for urban operations with high safety requirements and limited space. The standard Volvo Dynamic Steering (VDS) supports precise maneuvering in tight spaces. With seating for up to three passengers, the truck is versatile – for example, in delivery traffic, municipal services, waste management, or on construction sites.
