Ecooltec Grosskopf is expanding its activities in Europe and is now starting the distribution of its transport refrigeration units in Spain. As the company has announced, Ruben Climent will take on the newly created position of Sales and Service Manager Iberia. Climent brings many years of experience in technology and the aftersales sector of transport refrigeration units as well as electric drives.
The goal is to quickly establish a regional service network and stable sales structures, and to intensify the contact with Spanish bodybuilders. Spain is considered an interesting growth market for environmentally friendly refrigeration technology due to high temperatures and increasing regulatory requirements.
After successful market launches in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, England, and the Benelux countries, the decision to enter the Spanish market is only logical, as CEO Henning Altebäumer makes clear:
"This is the next logical step. After all, as a member of the European Union, Spain is also affected by regulations such as the F-gas and REACH regulations, which increasingly restrict the use of common F-gas refrigerants due to their climate-damaging effects and the formation of harmful substance groups of per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances, the so-called PFAS, and may even ban them in the future."
For fleet operators, this means they need to increasingly look for alternatives. Ecooltec sees this as an opportunity:
"Spanish fleet operators are also increasingly seeking future-proof solutions. Many of our customers operate internationally and want to equip their fleets across borders with a unified technology," Altebäumer continues.
With Ruben Climent, Ecooltec gains an industry expert who knows the Spanish market and its requirements well. He previously worked with various manufacturers and service providers in transport refrigeration and electric drive technology. Altebäumer emphasizes:
"With this, Ruben Climent brings all the essential knowledge and skills that are important for Ecooltec."
Climent himself sees great potential in the new market:
"I am pleased to support Ecooltec in expanding sales and building the service network in Spain. The potential for sustainable transport refrigeration systems is enormous there. Initial discussions have already shown: Decision-makers from the fleets want to invest in our innovative transport refrigeration systems."
Ecooltec relies on electric drives in its systems and completely refrains from using integrated diesel engines. The operation can be powered by a high-performance generator on the truck engine, a battery, or a separate power generator. This significantly reduces emissions – according to the manufacturer, by up to 98 percent in generator operation, and even zero emissions locally in battery operation.
A central component of the technology is the use of natural refrigerants. While conventional systems often use fluorinated substances like R452A or R410A, Ecooltec uses CO2 (R744) and propene (R1270). Both substances have very low global warming potential (GWP 1 and 3 respectively) and simultaneously enable high energy efficiency. As a result, the systems can require up to 80 percent less energy than diesel-powered systems of comparable performance class.
According to the company, the technology offers not only ecological advantages but also meets the high demands for temperature safety, as are especially required in food distribution under hot climatic conditions.
