In road freight transport, alternative drive technologies are becoming increasingly important. The biofuel manufacturer Verbio has now responded with a cooperation. As the company announced to the press, it aims to enable the economical operation of gas-powered trucks together with Iveco Nord-Ost through a combined offering of vehicle leasing and fuel supply for forwarding and logistics companies. The aim of the collaboration is to make the transition environmentally and economically attractive.
Companies that lease an S-Way tractor unit with LNG or CNG drive from Iveco Nord-Ost receive discounted conditions from Verbio for the supply of BioLNG or BioCNG for the entire duration of the lease contract. The biofuel manufacturer guarantees a price advantage compared to fossil diesel.
“Iveco Nord-Ost and Verbio offer freight forwarders a cost-efficient transport solution with a range of up to 1,600 kilometers at the maximum possible tank volume,” says Klaus Mohrenweiser, responsible for the filling station business at Verbio.
The collaboration combines powerful vehicles with a climate-friendly fuel offering under particularly attractive conditions. According to Verbio, more than 30 own and partner gas stations are available nationwide, where biomethane can be obtained around the clock.
For use in long-distance transport, BioLNG is particularly recommended. In combination with the S-Way tractor unit, ranges of up to 1,600 kilometers should be possible. For local and distribution transport as well as municipal use, BioCNG offers a good alternative due to the shorter range between two refueling operations.
The biomethane that Verbio offers in the form of BioLNG and BioCNG is produced in-house and, according to information, is made exclusively from agricultural residues and straw. The company produces more than 1,000 gigawatt hours of this gas annually. This independence from fossil energy sources enables, according to Verbio, a stable supply even under fluctuating market conditions.
Currently, the company operates three biorefineries in Germany as well as its own network of filling stations. In addition to accepting common fuel cards, Verbio offers companies with their own Verbio fuel card individual price agreements. Additionally, the company points to its own truck fleet, which is almost entirely powered by BioLNG and BioCNG. This way, they can not only supply fuel but also share their own experiences in daily operations with interested freight companies.
Further information on fuel prices, filling station locations, and technical conditions is provided by Verbio on its website. According to Mohrenweiser, companies can also find a direct line to the consulting team there:
"Through www.verbiogas.de, interested freight companies can learn more about profitability, sustainability, and locations of Verbio filling stations and directly get in touch with our team."
The cooperation between vehicle providers and fuel suppliers creates a model for freight companies that aims to facilitate the entry into alternative propulsion technologies—without high investments and while simultaneously reducing the CO2 footprint in everyday transport.
