BLG Logistics announces that it has further expanded its collaboration with Konica Minolta. According to its own statements, the transport and logistics service provider from Bremen will assume additional services for the long-standing customer in the future, including the complete supply of spare parts for the European market. The company is convinced that this expansion will strengthen the role of the Emmerich site as a central logistics hub within Europe.
The partnership between BLG Logistics and Konica Minolta dates back to 1980. Since the relocation of logistics activities from Bremen to Emmerich in 2008, BLG has been operating on
a site covering around 80,000 square meters. In addition to traditional logistics services such as transport, storage, picking, and shipping, the company also undertakes the so-called pre-delivery installation. This involves assembling, calibrating, and setting up printing and multifunction devices before delivery. About 250 employees are active at the site daily.
With the latest expansion of the collaboration, BLG Logistics now also takes over the Europe-wide spare parts logistics for Konica Minolta. According to the customer, the integration of the new orders into the existing European warehouse in Emmerich took place almost without interruption.
“The integration and expansion in our
distribution center in Emmerich is an integral part and milestone of our corporate and SCM transformation. I am particularly pleased that with the help of our logistics partner BLG Logistics, we were able to implement it almost seamlessly for our customers,” explains Winfried Hennemuth, Head of International SCM Division at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe.
The aim is to offer customers a complete product and service portfolio from a single source in the future.
According to BLG, the new order includes around 40,000 additional items with an annual shipping output of around 3.5 million parts.
“As a long-standing logistics
partner of Konica Minolta, we are proud to take our collaboration to a new level,” says Thomas Leiber, Managing Director Contract at BLG Logistics.
The Emmerich site offers optimal conditions for growth with its efficient logistics system and tri-modal connections to road, rail, and water.
BLG refers to the project as a long-term investment in the joint future. By integrating new business areas such as healthcare, an even broader range of services is emerging at the site. Konica Minolta refers to it as a “decade project” that lays the foundation for the next development steps within the supply chain.
