Renault Trucks and Schwing-Stetter have jointly developed the five-axle E-Tech C 10x4 and are presenting it as a world premiere at Bauma 2025 in Munich from April 7 to 13. The fully electric mixer, which will be exclusively on display at the Schwing-Stetter stand, can transport up to 10 m3 of concrete. The new model is intended to address future challenges for electric trucks. On the one hand, expanding battery-electric technology to new segments requires tailored solutions. On the other hand, this is particularly true in concrete transport, where high payloads are required and the weight of the battery affects efficiency.
High Maneuverability and Payload
A diesel truck with a conventional mixer can transport up to 8 m3 of concrete in many European countries. The transition to electric drive reduces this capacity due to the additional battery weight. Renault Trucks has developed the E-Tech C 10x4, a five-axle model that allows for the transportation of up to 10 m3 of concrete—despite the challenges posed by the weight of the battery.
Despite the additional axle, the vehicle remains maneuverable, which is crucial for use in urban environments and accessing tight construction sites. A redesigned architecture with vertically positioned batteries behind the cab ensures a short wheelbase and a reduced turning radius.
Competitive and Sustainable
Schwing-Stetter has additionally developed a fully electric concrete mixer that is operated directly with the truck's traction batteries. This integrated solution ensures low CO2 operation. With a range of up to 140 km after a 45-minute interim charge (or 110 km with a single charge), this truck can make four daily trips of 35 km each—a distance well-suited for typical routes between concrete plants and construction sites. Renault Trucks assists in selecting the right number of battery packs and optimizing the charging strategy to avoid oversizing, which could reduce payload, increase operating costs, and unnecessarily enlarge the ecological footprint, if needed.
Thanks to optimal battery sizing, increased payload capacity, and lower energy costs, this new electric vehicle ensures a competitive cost ratio per transported cubic meter of concrete compared to diesel vehicles, according to the manufacturer.
Available in countries such as Switzerland, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Finland
The E-Tech C 10x4 will be available in countries such as Switzerland, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Finland, where five-axle trucks with up to 42 tons are permitted (depending on national regulations). Renault Trucks is simultaneously advocating for the alignment of European regulations to accelerate the adoption of electromobility in concrete transport.
