Lufthansa Cargo continues to focus on the South American market and christened its latest Boeing 777 freighter "¡Hola Argentina!" during a ceremonial event at Buenos Aires Airport. The christening is in line with the naming logic "Say hello around the world," which has been followed since 2013, according to a press release by the cargo airline, positioning the planes as ambassadors of global trade connections. With this, Lufthansa Cargo aims to honor the markets within its global route network and emphasize its ties to these regions.

The latest addition to the fleet bears the registration D-ALFL, and the name "¡Hola Argentina!" aims to symbolize the close connection between Germany and Argentina, which Lufthansa Cargo has maintained

since 1970 via the Frankfurt hub. According to Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo, the new freighter underscores the clear commitment to the region:

"South America remains an important growth market for Lufthansa Cargo. Particularly in the perishables industry, we have built strong partnerships with our customers over the last three decades. By christening our latest freighter, we underscore our commitment to Argentina and, true to our guiding principle of 'Enabling Global Business,' also to this market and our customers."

Argentina plays a central role in South American trade with its export sectors for agricultural products, energy, and raw materials. At the same time, the demand for high-quality import goods such as machinery, electronics, and vehicles

is increasing. Lufthansa Cargo aims to specifically meet this demand through reliable transport solutions and sees long-term strategic potential in South America.

In the current summer flight schedule for 2025, the cargo airline is therefore increasing weekly freighter connections to South America. Buenos Aires and Curitiba will each be served one more time per week than in the previous winter schedule. In total, customers have four weekly flights available on the route.

In addition, Lufthansa Cargo utilizes the belly capacities of the Lufthansa Group to offer up to 20 weekly rotations from Frankfurt and three rotations from Munich. The South American network currently includes the destinations Viracopos (VCP), Montevideo (MVD), Buenos Aires (EZE), and Curitiba (CWB).

The company's fleet strategy relies on modern and efficient long-haul aircraft. Since 2021, Lufthansa Cargo has exclusively operated Boeing 777F freighters on long-haul routes. The fleet consists of twelve own aircraft and six more jointly operated with DHL under the AeroLogic joint venture. For short- and medium-haul routes, the airline also uses four Airbus A321F. Through close cooperation with Lufthansa Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and SunExpress, a dense network is available that connects all major economic centers, especially within Europe.

With the christening of the new freighter "¡Hola Argentina!", Lufthansa Cargo is making a visible statement of its commitment to the South American market and once again confirms the region's significance for intercontinental freight transport.
