The Schoeller Group, specializing in reusable systems, and the logistics service provider Fiege have founded the joint venture Multiloop together with Leif Erichson, former President Europe of the fashion brand Esprit, and serial founder Elias Kuby. The companies announced this to the press on April 24. Unlike conventional cartons dominating e-commerce, Multiloop relies on durable and reusable shipping packaging made from recyclable, water-repellent polypropylene.
A Multiloop reusable box replaces on average 30 disposable cartons according to the company and saves up to 86 percent CO2 in the process. At the end of their life cycles, the packaging is recycled and used to produce new Multiloop boxes.
“Our motto is Re-Use before Recycling – simple, affordable, mass-market ready,” said Leif Erichson, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Multiloop. “The end customer only pays a deposit, which they of course receive back 100 percent upon returning the packaging. Our strategic differentiation from the competition is our unique and convenient return system with 15,000 planned return locations in supermarkets, gas stations, and kiosks. Our packaging is logistics-optimized and there is virtually no implementation effort for online retailers. Additionally, with Multiloop, we rely on an attractive pay-per-use model that any online retailer can afford.”
Elias Kuby, also Co-Founder and Managing Director at Multiloop, added: “With the Schoeller Group, we have a partner that has been developing and producing innovative reusable systems for over 60 years. The logistics service provider Fiege brings extensive know-how in e-commerce, logistics, and the last mile into the partnership. We want to use these strategic partnerships to establish Multiloop as the long-term European market leader in the field of reusable shipping packaging.”
