Proxima, a globally operating consulting firm for procurement optimization and supply chain management (SCM), announced its market entry into Germany on February 21. With the Düsseldorf office, Proxima, headquartered in London, aims to establish a presence in Germany. Since 2022, as part of Bain & Company, the company plans to position itself more strongly in Europe in the long term with the launch in the DACH market, according to a press release.

With Germany as the largest economy in the EU and home to many international companies, the provider sees great growth potential according to their own information. The DACH expansion is therefore led by Senior Vice President René Petri, who has known the industry for more than 25 years. He views the opening of the new office as a crucial step for more targeted customer support:

“Proxima has always been present in Europe and has celebrated significant success thanks to the support from our UK team. It is important for us to speak the language of our customers—both at eye level between departments such as procurement or finance as well as in the native language.”

Europe is not uncharted territory

In a time when geopolitics, inflation, ESG regulations, and digitalization pose increasingly complex challenges to the procurement and SCM industry, the provider has committed to supporting its customers in mastering these issues. Working with European customers is not new to Proxima, as Ed Winterschladen, Executive Vice President Europe at Proxima, affirms: “In the last 18 months, we have worked on joint projects with colleagues from Bain & Company in Germany, France, the Netherlands, the Nordic countries, and Switzerland.”

For the European market, the main focus for indirect procurement is to be on the automotive industry, financial services, private equity, consumer goods, and retail. In terms of direct procurement, the consulting company aims to advise clients on cost optimization of third-party expenses. Furthermore, the company also offers advice on purchasing processes, digitalization, risk management, and risk minimization.

With the expansion into the DACH market, Proxima reports creating ten new procurement positions.
