After all regulatory approvals for the acquisition of DB Schenker by DSV are in place, the Danish logistics service provider is implementing restructurings and extensive personnel changes. DSV is expanding its Group Executive Committee with new members and renaming the Solutions business unit to Contract Logistics, according to a press release from DSV dated April 15. The changes will take effect after the completion of the acquisition, which is expected on April 30.
"We want to create clarity and drive integration once the acquisition is complete," said Jens H. Lund, Group CEO of DSV. "That's why we have started the nomination and appointment process for executives using the principle of the 'best athlete'. The executives from both DSV and Schenker were assessed based on their competencies and achievements as well as their professional and personal future plans."
This has led to the appointment of very experienced executives at both DSV and Schenker.
As already announced, DSV's Board of Directors intends to propose Jochen Thewes, the CEO of DB Schenker, for election to the Board at an extraordinary general meeting after the acquisition is completed.
Managers from DB Schenker join the Group Executive Committee
While the board of DSV remains unchanged, DSV is appointing several new members to the Group Executive Committee: Helmut Schweighofer will become the new CEO of the Road Division. Schweighofer is currently the CEO of the DB Schenker Europe region with 40,000 employees and a leading role in road freight; a role he has held since 2018. Schweighofer succeeds Søren Schmidt, who according to DSV, has decided to continue his career outside of DSV after three decades of dedicated service.
Vishal Sharma, currently CEO of the Asia-Pacific region for DB Schenker, will become the new Group CCO. Sharma brings more than 30 years of industry experience and global leadership roles to this position. Sharma replaces Morten Landry, who will continue as CCO of the largest DSV division Air & Sea from the first quarter of 2026. Until then, Landry will remain part of the Group Commercial Executive Team at DSV to organize the transition.
Saskia Blochberger will join the DSV Group Executive Committee as Group Chief People Officer (CPO). Blochberger is moving from her position as CPO for Schenker's Europe region to DSV and brings experience in P&O and business strategy from various leadership positions. After many years with DSV, Helle Bach, the current Head of Group HR, has decided to step down from her position and pursue new opportunities outside of DSV, according to DSV.
After the completion of the acquisition, the DSV executive board will also consist of the following members: Group CEO Jens H. Lund (Executive Board), Group CFO Michael Ebbe (Executive Board), Group COO Brian Ejsing (Executive Board), CEO Air & Sea Frank Sobotka, CEO Contract Logistics Albert-Derk Bruin, Group CIO Jesper Riis and Senior Executive Vice President, Corporate Development Henrik Kjelgaard.
"I am very pleased with the strong leadership team that we will deploy for the next important stage on our journey to becoming the world's leading transport and logistics company," said Lund. "A warm welcome to Helmut Schweighofer, Vishal Sharma, and Saskia Blochberger, who are joining our Group Executive Committee from Schenker. They all bring extensive experience and excellent leadership qualities to drive our business forward." At the same time, he wanted to thank Søren Schmidt and Helle Bach "for their dedicated and long-standing contributions to DSV."
