On April 14, DB Schenker officially opened its new logistics location in Neunkirchen, Saarland. The facility improves the connection to the company's European land transport network and contributes to strengthening the regional economy, according to a press release from the logistics service provider. It serves as a logistics hub for the southwest, France, and other European countries.

With a total area of 76,000 square meters, a terminal area of 10,500 square meters, and 119 gates, it is DB Schenker's largest land transport site in Germany. The new building also features an office space of 3,519 square meters. The logistics processes are monitored and controlled there with yard management.

“With the modernization and relocation of our Saarland branch to Neunkirchen, we are once again optimizing the capacity and strength of our already highly efficient European land transport network,” said Ralf Többe, CEO / Head of Land Transport at DB Schenker Germany / Switzerland.

They are thus well positioned for further growth in Saarland, all of France, and other countries in Europe.

The planning and implementation of the project was carried out with the partners Casaplan Seeliger GmbH and Goldbeck. DB Schenker will become the owner of the property, which will receive the DGNB Gold Certification. A photovoltaic system is intended to ensure a resource-efficient energy supply, including ten charging points for electric cars and eight charging points for electric trucks.

“With our offices and numerous logistics locations in Saarland, we offer a powerful portfolio of transport and logistics services,” said Martin Rust, Managing Director of DB Schenker Saarland. “The automotive and wine logistics sectors in particular benefit from the strategic location.” Geographically, the Neunkirchen location forms an important connection to 15 fixed destinations in France, the Benelux countries, and all German DB Schenker branches.

“DB Schenker brings around 300 socially insured jobs to our city and has invested here significantly and sustainably,” added Mayor Jörg Aumann. The new settlement is important for the economic location of Neunkirchen and an attractive urban development.
