Transporeon introduces new features that have, according to their own statements, been specifically developed for the spot freight market between shippers and carriers. With this, they are entering the traditional segment of freight exchanges, it was further stated.

While the platform already facilitates the connection within the network, the expansion is intended to directly target the dynamics between shippers seeking reliable capacities and carriers looking for spot loads.

The IT company aims to offer an alternative to the established freight exchanges by leveraging its own technological base and user community.

Free Access for Forwarders

According to Transporeon, the enhanced Freight Marketplace functionality eliminates common weaknesses of the spot market and introduces a disruptive pricing model. This is intended to include free access for forwarders who post shipments, and a flat, low monthly fee of 100 euros for carriers, regardless of company size or number of users. It usually means an average cost reduction of 50 percent compared to other established platforms, according to the IT company.

Among the most important innovations of the expanded Freight Marketplace are AI-supported verification and integrated negotiation. The former replaces lengthy manual processes with automated checks of the provider's identity and insurance details, aiming for more speed and accuracy.

Price negotiation, on the other hand, according to Transporeon, takes place directly on the platform and is supposed to be improved by accessing anonymized market price benchmarks and trends, making inefficient offline haggling obsolete. Jonah McIntire, Chief Platform Officer at Transporeon:

“This is a strategic advancement for Transporeon, leveraging the capabilities of our platform and network. We are now expanding our proven capabilities to specifically serve the spot market for shippers and carriers, a segment that deserves modernization and lower prices. We are introducing a significantly more cost-effective, efficient, and transparent solution that utilizes AI and integrated negotiations to fundamentally improve the way shippers and carriers interact and handle spot transactions.”

Live Access in April

The introduction of new features follows market interest, according to Transporeon. Ten leading freight forwarders have already actively used the Freight Marketplace for their spot freight needs and migrated volumes that were previously handled through other freight exchanges. Numerous carriers have put themselves on a waiting list and will receive live access to the new features in April this year. Markus Fürlinger, Chief Information Officer at Gartner KG:

“As a leading logistics service provider, we are always looking for innovative solutions that increase efficiency and transparency in the spot freight market. Transporeon's Freight Marketplace offers a compelling opportunity to streamline our processes and represents a modern, cost-effective alternative to traditional freight exchanges. Thanks to the intuitive user interface, integrated negotiation tools, and AI-supported verification of carriers, we see great potential in this technology to improve our contacts with reliable carriers and manage our spot freight needs.”

The expansion of the Transporeon Freight Marketplace to the segment of freight forwarders and carriers opens a new phase for the European spot market for road transport and leads to more efficiency, transparency, and accessibility, it was concluded.
