Semi-trailer specialist Krone from Werlte in Lower Saxony is cooperating with Leipzig-based fleet management provider Webfleet, a company of tire manufacturer Bridgestone. Krone vehicles can now be directly connected to Webfleet's control interface through a single telematics platform without additional hardware. The solution offers enhanced fleet management with real-time monitoring, proactive maintenance, and tire pressure monitoring (TPMS).

No additional hardware required

The integrated telematics solution is accessible through the partner program of Webfleet's telematics platform OEM.connect. This allows commercial fleet operators with Krone trailers to seamlessly connect the telematics already installed in the vehicles at the factory with the Webfleet platform without hardware installation. Webfleet was launched 25 years ago and is now used by around 60,000 companies in 60 countries worldwide. A few months ago, fleet management was expanded to trailers.

This provides transport entrepreneurs with access to their trailer data and allows them to, for example, increase the utilization of their vehicles and counteract downtime through continuous monitoring. This can potentially save costs and time.

The integration enables customers to fully utilize Webfleet's trailer management functions, as both companies report independently. The offerings range from comprehensive tour tracking, real-time location monitoring to proactive maintenance and security monitoring, and also include payload management and tire pressure monitoring (TPMS).

Efficient Trailer Management

Regarding the benefits of the platform, Jan-Maarten de Vries, President Fleet Management Solutions at Bridgestone Mobility Solutions, tells potential customers:

“Using our OEM.connect program is the quickest way to bring trailers online and utilize the advantages of the Webfleet platform, which supports you in the efficient management of your trailer fleet.”

With the integration of one of Europe’s leading trailer manufacturers into Webfleet's telematics solution, users now have access to their truck and fleet data via a single platform. This allows them to gain actionable insights to improve their trailer performance. The Webfleet integration can be activated through the Krone telematics platform. As stated, this enables freight forwarders to maintain full control over their data.

Data Access with a Single Click

Maximilian Birle, Managing Director of Krone Digital, highlights the easy-to-use Webfleet interface. Krone customers can benefit from the advanced telematics features of one of Europe’s leading fleet management solutions through the cooperation. “With just one click, freight forwarders receive advanced data and insights without any costs for downtime or installation.”

European Webfleet customers now have access to the integrated trailer solution. According to reports, Krone is now the second trailer manufacturer to join the Webfleet OEM.connect program. Just a few months ago, Webfleet also extended its solution to semitrailers. The first trailer partner with a factory-installed telematics connection to Webfleet was Europe’s largest trailer manufacturer Schmitz-Cargobull in the fall of 2024. Now, Krone, the second largest, has followed. The application is continuously being developed with new features and vehicle brands.

As recently reported, it seems that Webfleet is increasingly focusing on the integration of applications with Artificial Intelligence (AI) for fleet management in a time of not only digital transformation. The wealth of data collected from connected vehicles allows for smart analyses to increase efficiency, it is said.
