Regular inspections of work equipment are a central component of operational occupational safety. They serve to prevent accidents and are legally required – for instance, by the Industrial Safety Regulation, the Workplace Ordinance, as well as regulations of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) and the professional associations. Adherence to prescribed inspection intervals and comprehensive documentation are essential in this context.

Digital Support in the Inspection Process

The cloud-based web app from the provider wosatec is intended to offer a digital solution that simplifies and digitizes the entire inspection process. The application replaces paper-based inspection and documentation systems and can be used on mobile devices—even offline.

The inspection processes take place in three steps: First, the tools are recorded with an individual QR code. In addition to basic data such as location, workplace, or inventory number, images and information about the last inspection can also be stored. After selecting the model and manufacturer, the system automatically suggests the appropriate inspection interval according to DGUV.

In the second step, the tool is checked using an automatically generated checklist. Supplementary information, such as comments or damage images, can be added. Finally, a digital inspection report is created, which can be saved, shared, or printed as a PDF. Digital signatures are possible directly in the app.

Broad Range of Applications

The wosatec web app is designed to cover a wide variety of work equipment – including ladders, steps, mobile scaffolds, stationary ladders, stairs, and bridges, particularly products from the manufacturer Krause, which come from the factory with a QR code. In addition, wosatec states that other work equipment such as shelving systems, doors, gates, containers, battery tools, or first aid equipment can also be recorded and inspected.

Benefits for Companies

The use of the web app is intended to offer several organizational advantages: Digital inspection processes reduce administrative effort, facilitate compliance with legal regulations, and minimize paper consumption. All relevant documents are stored digitally and can be accessed at any time. The system automatically reminds users of due inspections and keeps checklists up to date.

Additionally, external inspectors can be integrated into the inspection process. A centralized management of all equipment provides an overview of inspection status, locations, and upcoming appointments across different sites. It is also possible to import existing data in bulk, such as from Excel spreadsheets. Filter functions by location, workplace, or type of equipment simplify organization—especially in companies with extensive inventories of equipment.
